About SAE University College Dubai

SAE University College Dubai is a specialized creative media institution that has served the United Arab Emirates since 2005. As part of a global network, the college integrates Australian academic standards with localized industry practices in the SWANA region. It operates under a dual-regulatory framework, maintaining accreditation from Australia's Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) while being licensed by Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

The Studio-Simulation Model

The institution prioritizes a project-based learning (PBL) pedagogy, replacing traditional written examinations with practical, output-focused deliverables. Students engage in cross-disciplinary projects, where individuals from animation, audio, and games development tracks collaborate to mirror the workflows of professional media studios. This approach is supported by "pracademics"—faculty members who balance teaching with active careers in the creative industries.

Technical Infrastructure and Partnerships

To ensure students train on industry-standard equipment, SAE maintains strategic partnerships with several major technology developers:

  • SideFX: A certified Houdini School Partner, integrating procedural generation and advanced simulation workflows into the curriculum.
  • Wacom: The college hosts the first Wacom Creative Lab in the region, providing students with professional pen displays for sculpting and animation.
  • Blackmagic Design: An education partnership that equips students with professional camera systems, editing suites, and color-grading consoles.

Additional campus facilities include high-performance computing laboratories, recording environments with AVID S6 consoles, and soundstages for film and visual production.

Programs and Industry Transition

The college offers a variety of specialized bachelor's degrees and short courses. Students frequently transition to professional roles through the annual SAE Dubai Student Showcase, an event that brings together studio executives and industry professionals to review student capstone projects.
