About P. A. Inamdar College of Visual Effects, Design & Art

Located on the 24-acre Azam Campus in Pune, P. A. Inamdar College of Visual Effects, Design & Art—commonly known as VEDA College—operates as a constituent college of Dr. P.A. Inamdar University. Founded in 2010 by the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society, the institution bridges academic design education with digital media production requirements, functioning as an Autodesk Authorized Training & Certification Center and an Adobe Creative Technology Academy.

Curriculum and Teaching Approach

The curriculum is structured around studio production pipelines rather than isolated software tutorials. Initial coursework grounds students in core artistic disciplines such as life drawing, anatomy, perspective, color theory, and traditional sketching before progressing into digital environments. Technical instruction emphasizes transferable production workflows across modeling, rigging, procedural simulations, and compositing.

From early in their studies, students take part in routine critique sessions structured like studio review dailies. Practical coursework combines digital and tactile assignments, including packaging design exercises that take concepts from vector illustrations to printed, assembled physical mockups, alongside outdoor sketching and indigenous art projects during Art & Heritage Camps. Students also experiment with emerging tech, including collaborative projects exploring AI-assisted filmmaking pipelines.

Academic Offerings

VEDA College offers degree, diploma, and certificate pathways across creative media disciplines:

  • Degree Programs: University-sanctioned qualifications include the four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Visual Art, the two-year Master of Design (M.Des) in Visual Art, and the three-year B.Sc. in Media Graphics & Animation.
  • Diplomas and Certificates: Intensive applied courses include the two-year Advance Diploma in 3D Animation & VFX, specialized diplomas in Game Art, 2D Animation, Graphics & UI/UX, and Graphic & Motion, as well as focused software certificates covering tools such as Houdini, Nuke, Blender, Maya, and Unreal Engine.

In addition to traditional on-campus classes, select diploma and certificate tracks are supported through remote learning delivery.

Facilities and Industry Engagement

Production infrastructure at the Azam Campus includes dedicated Cintiq labs outfitted with more than 40 Wacom pen displays, alongside labs hosting over 100 high-performance workstations equipped with dedicated GPUs for 3D animation, dynamic simulations, and real-time engine workflows. Live-action integration and audio post-production are supported by a green and blue chroma key studio equipped for 4K video capture, an acoustically treated recording space for Foley sound and dialogue work, and a reference gallery of historical camera equipment.

Industry connection is reinforced by the annual Pune Animation Film Festival (PAFF), hosted by the college to showcase student, independent, and commercial animation projects to visiting directors and studio recruiters. The college also runs Kalotsav, an annual internal festival evaluating work across character modeling, motion graphics, interface design, and short film production.
