Artemisia College of Art & Design

Artemisia College of Art & Design (ACAD) is a specialized creative-arts college in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, dedicated to animation, visual effects, and game design. Affiliated with Raja Mansingh Tomar Music & Arts University and recognized by the UGC, the college provides degree, diploma, and certificate programs structured to connect creative theory with commercial studio production.

Studio Integration

A central feature of the college is its operational link with ACAD Studios, an on-campus animation and game production facility handling commercial projects. Rather than limiting practical work to theoretical assignments, the curriculum integrates students directly into the studio pipeline. Eligible students begin participating in paid studio internships during their second year, gaining experience with professional deadlines, production credits, and commercial workflows prior to graduation.

Curriculum and Progression

The four-year Bachelor of Design programs in Animation and Game Design follow a progressive instructional sequence that establishes traditional artistic fundamentals before moving into advanced digital software.

• Year 1 (Traditional Foundations): Focuses on manual artistry, fine art principles, dynamic anatomy, character design, physical lightbox animation, and clay modeling for three-dimensional spatial understanding.
• Year 2 (Pre-Production and Cinematography): Covers visual development, storyboarding, art direction, cinematography, digital imaging tools, and 2D short film production.
• Year 3 (Advanced Digital Pipelines): Centers on 3D production and visual effects, incorporating 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, dynamic simulations, digital compositing, and lighting.
• Year 4 (Portfolio and Studio Integration): Emphasizes professional portfolio development, final showreel production, and commercial project work within the studio environment.

Real-Time 3D and Virtual Production

The college is recognized as a Gold Level Unreal Engine Academic Partner, delivering training in real-time environment art, interactive cinematics, and virtual production workflows. ACAD hosts regional Unreal Day events, serves as a host for local Unreal Engine community meetups, and participates in events such as the Global Game Jam. The institution also offers online certification tracks covering dedicated Unreal Engine disciplines for remote learners.

Campus Facilities

The 60,000-square-foot campus contains specialized production spaces modeled after commercial studios. Facilities include dedicated lightbox animation laboratories, clay sculpting studios, a visual effects and stop-motion workspace, drafting rooms, and testing environments for interactive games. Courses are taught by faculty with backgrounds in commercial animation and visual effects studios.
