About Annapurna College of Film and Media
Annapurna College of Film and Media (ACFM) operates directly inside the 22-acre Annapurna Studios complex in Hyderabad, combining degree-level education with a working commercial production environment. Affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) and a full member of CILECT, the college aligns academic study with daily studio operations, giving students direct exposure to active sets, professional crews, and studio facilities.
Academic pathways are anchored by degree programs and specialized professional certificates:
- B.A. (Hons) Filmmaking: A three-year degree utilizing a dual-major framework that pairs directing with a technical specialization in Cinematography, Editing, Sound Design, or VFX.
- M.A. Filmmaking: A two-year master's program focused on advanced narrative construction, directing, and post-production execution.
- 3D Animation & VFX: An intensive 11-month certificate centered on industry-standard 3D pipelines, using Autodesk Maya for modeling, texturing, lighting, dynamics, and rendering workflows.
- Advanced Compositing: A three-month certificate program dedicated to digital post-production pipelines and visual effects integration.
ACFM incorporates artificial intelligence practices across its filmmaking curriculum, training students to use AI tools within pre-visualization, scripting, visual effects, and sound design pipelines.
Instruction is practical and set-oriented. Sound design students conduct dynamic location recording exercises to solve complex acoustic challenges, while multicamera production workshops require live switching and real-time editing to replicate broadcast and virtual production scenarios. Campus infrastructure includes dedicated sound recording suites, a 7.1 Dolby Mixing Studio, a Dolby Atmos Mini Theatre, a DI mastering suite, and an iMac computer lab running Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer. Students also work on operational Annapurna sound stages, in a virtual production studio, and screen work in the Shiva Preview Theatre.
Student training culminates in the annual Grad Film Festival, an industry-attended showcase where final-year graduation films are screened and evaluated by practicing media professionals.
