Role Overview
The UX Design team of Scopely Explore (formerly known as Niantic) delivers innovative mobile experiences that inspire "exploration, exercise, and connection" for players around the world. In this position, you will tackle unique design challenges set in the real world, always placing the player’s perspective at the center of your UX design.
For your assigned game title, you will drive the UX design process from concept to completion. You will handle a broad scope of work—including UX flows, wireframes, and UI design—to shape intuitive and user-friendly experiences. Additionally, a crucial part of this role involves validating ideas using mockups and prototypes to clearly visualize and refine design concepts.
In development, you will collaborate closely with a diverse group of experts—including Engineers, Product Managers, User Researchers, and Artists—to co-create unique Scopely Explore experiences that blend the real and digital worlds. You will actively participate in brainstorming and new feature planning, contributing directly to the product's direction.
Additionally, you will communicate your design intent visually to internal and external stakeholders using wireframes and specifications. Your goal is to foster a shared understanding while building out the design.
What you will do
- Lead UX design efforts from concept to implementation for one or more player-facing experiences.
- Develop mockups, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design documentation to clearly describe interaction flows and design concepts.
- Clearly communicate UX designs to all stakeholders.
- Actively participate in team rituals to conceptualize and brainstorm new features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members and partners, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
- Required in-office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
What you will need
- 3+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design.
- A portfolio demonstrating interaction design for mobile applications.
- Proficiency in designing effective user flows and wireframes.
- Strong visual design skills with professional experience using design tools such as Figma.
- Ability to create sketches and designs for design validation (prototyping).
- Experience in mobile application or game development.
- Fluent in Japanese, with the ability to smoothly communicate verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to perform tasks in English is a plus.
- Ability to flexibly adapt to a fast-paced environment and provide practical solutions to challenges.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and ability to communicate smoothly, both in-person and online.
