About the role
Company Overview
Capsule Studio is a Parisian animation studio specializing in cinematics and trailers for the video game industry. Established in 2016, the studio collaborates with international publishers on titles such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Farming Simulator, and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. The team consists of approximately thirty people located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.
Missions
- Participate in the creation of advanced and realistic rigs for a variety of characters, creatures, and accessories using Maya.
- Ensure the maintenance and correction of rigs during production.
- Follow supervisor directives to ensure rigs are precise and adapted to animation needs.
- Work autonomously in a dynamic environment while delivering high-quality work and resolving technical rigging issues.
- Collaborate effectively with artists from other departments to ensure fluid integration between different disciplines.
Profile Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in rigging bipeds, quadrupeds, vehicles, and accessories in a production environment using Maya.
- Proficiency in Deformers, Constraints, Hierarchies, Utility Nodes, Expressions, Hair & Cloth, Muscle/Skin, weighting, and dynamics in production.
- Understanding of animation needs regarding functionality, evaluation speed, rig controls, and artist interactivity.
- Ability to create realistic rigs as well as dynamic setups with squash & stretch and jiggle.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and understanding of human and animal biomechanics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-haves)
- Experience in facial rigging and motion capture integration.
- Mastery of Python for scripting under Maya.
- Experience with versioning and collaborative work tools (GitHub, GitLab).
Logistics
- Location: On-site, Paris 13th arrondissement.
- Contract Type: Intermittent contract (CDDU).
- Duration: 3 to 4 weeks, beginning early November.
- Compensation: Based on profile and experience.
