About the role
Company Overview
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the company behind the PlayStation brand. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, the company is an entertainment leader and a dynamic technology company delivering hardware and network services to over 100 million people. Haven Studios joined the family in 2022 to build an exclusive new IP for PlayStation and to grow the first Sony game development team in Canada. The studio culture is grounded in kindness, adaptability, and courage.
The Role
The studio is seeking a logistics-driven Character Content Manager to ensure the Character Art pipeline runs efficiently. This is not a formal people management role; the primary focus is on world-class project management, pipeline optimization, and asset logistics. The individual will coordinate the intake of daily assets from multiple global external development and outsourcing partners to ensure internal character artists can focus on quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Asset Traffic Control & Logistics: Oversee the day-to-day intake, triage, and pipeline routing of character art assets (high-poly, low-poly, textures, rigs, blendshapes) arriving from external vendors.
- Outsourcing & Vendor Integration: Partner with internal character art leads and external vendors. Establish clear delivery milestones, track SLAs, and ensure optimized timelines are met by outsourcers.
- Pipeline & Workflow Optimization: Design, maintain, and optimize tracking systems (Jira, Shotgrid/Flow Production Tracking, Confluence) used to monitor asset lifecycles from concept to engine-ready implementation.
- Dependency & Risk Management: Proactively identify bottlenecks across cross-disciplinary dependencies to ensure character art handoffs to Rigging, Animation, and Tech Art occur smoothly.
- Feedback Loop Management: Facilitate communication between internal Art Directors/Leads, external partners, and producers of other teams.
- Sprint Planning & Status Reporting: Own sprint schedules for the character team. Maintain visibility on asset readiness metrics and escalate potential timeline risks to the Lead Producer.
Qualifications
- AAA Production Experience: Proven experience operating within a full-cycle, large-scale AAA game production environment, specifically managing content-heavy pipelines (Art, Maps, Outsourcing, or Asset Management).
- Mastery of Project Management Frameworks: Deep practical knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies adapted for game production pipelines.
- Tool Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of Jira (custom workflows, automation, advanced filtering) and asset tracking tools such as Shotgrid/Flow, Miro, or Airtable.
- Outsourcing Literacy: Understanding of external development partnerships, including reading asset specification sheets, managing vendor milestones, and running efficient delivery processes.
- Exceptional Communication & Diplomacy: Ability to navigate ambiguity and communicate seamlessly across technical, creative, and external business teams.
- Passion for Asset Mechanics: Solid understanding of the game art pipeline lifecycle.
Bonus Points
- Experience shipping a Live-Service or Games As A Service (GaaS) title.
- Experience with 3D software (Maya, Blender, etc.).
- Experience with Perforce/Helix Core or engine integration tools (Unreal Engine).
- Bilingualism (English and French).
- Character art experience.
- Knowledge of Python scripting or experience coding custom tools.
