About the role
Overview
Join us as People & Culture Partner, on-site in our Hamburg office. You will be the person leadership turns to for the real questions: how to structure the team, how to retain talent who make a difference, and how to grow managers who are worth following.
Our Hamburg studio is looking for a People & Culture partner to own the local people agenda. Administration sits with our central HR Admin Hub and recruitment with our central Talent Acquisition team, allowing your focus to remain on leadership advisory, culture, and organisational work. This is a full-time role, hybrid in Hamburg, initially for two years with a strong intention to extend.
Your Mission
- The people agenda for the studio: engagement, culture, retention, and organisational growth.
- Leadership as a craft: coach managers, build development offers, and raise the bar on people decision-making.
- Organisational design and workforce planning in collaboration with the studio leadership team.
- Manage performance and compensation cycles, including calibration and pay decisions with leadership.
- Handle difficult conversations, complex employee relations, change situations, and matters requiring judgement and discretion.
- Manage local benefits and wellbeing, from strategy to provider choice and budget.
- Provide a clear point of view backed by data on studio happenings.
- Act as the studio's voice towards the central HR Admin Hub and Group People functions to help shape standards.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition on hiring priorities and the HR Admin Hub on payroll and admin, without carrying the operational load.
Your Backstory
- Experience as an HR Business Partner, People & Culture Manager, or similar, with enough scope to operate independently.
- Credibility with senior leaders and the ability to disagree with a managing director while maintaining a professional relationship.
- Working command of German labour law and the pragmatism to apply it commercially.
- Curiosity about people data and AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini as part of your workflow.
- Comfort working in a matrix setup with central functions and international colleagues.
- Fluent English; German is a plus, not a requirement.
- Based in Hamburg and happy to be in the studio with the team.
