Role Overview
CD PROJEKT RED is seeking a Machine Learning Researcher - Narratologist for the R&D Team. The role involves exploring potential new features for game development and pushing the boundaries of computational narratology, focusing on techniques to understand and react to (but not generate) narrative text.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build ML systems for complex narrative analysis.
- Quantitatively improve key NLP models, designing and/or integrating new models.
- Effectively leverage cloud infrastructure for training and serving.
- Keep a finger on the pulse of SOTA for key topics.
- Present results internally and possibly at external conferences.
- Optimize ML systems for cost, latency, and quality.
- Facilitate the deployment of results in demos.
Qualifications
- Sophisticated experimental NLP background in academic or industrial research.
- 5+ years of experience programming.
- Fluent in Python and C++ (or Unreal C++).
- Intellectually curious, ambitious, open-minded, and proactive.
- Capable of taking high-level goals, making a plan, driving it forward, and being accountable for the results.
Nice to Haves
- Game development experience, especially in Unreal Engine.
- Relevant publications in narratology.
- Personal projects in ML.

Compensation
- Salary Range: $136,600 - $250,500 USD annually.
- Determination: Based on competitive market data, geographic location, individual factors, and business needs.
