Team Context: Shared Tech
The role belongs to Shared Tech, which functions as a B2B organization covering data infrastructure, machine learning, payments infrastructure, and game engines. The vision is "We are the stage where King games love to perform." The role sits within the Game Production organization, focusing on tooling and infrastructure to enable content creators to build features faster, easier, and more reliably.
Responsibilities
- Develop the game engine, refine new and existing features, and design, implement, and maintain in-house tools embedded directly within products.
- Collaborate with various current and future users of the Game Engine, bridging various crafts within King to optimize, improve, and discover workflows across games.
- Deliver high quality and well-structured code.
- Improve quality and performance inside the products landscape.
- Share knowledge and best practices with peers and game teams.
- Drive and support features adoption with stakeholders in the game teams across King.
- Facilitate architectural decisions and provide hands-on development to support smaller feature teams based on rolling needs.
- Monitor development in real-time to determine how to support and assist the rest of the development team.
- Improve feedback loops to facilitate tool adoption and evaluate performance.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Strong C++ knowledge and experience.
- Python knowledge with experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with testing, automation, and continuous integration.
- Ability to work closely with cross-discipline teams to understand their needs.
- High sense of code quality and polish and the desire to build and maintain a high-quality code base.
- Ability to develop on multiple platforms: Windows and OSX.
- Self-starter, curious, and a fast learner.
- Ability to context switch easily to provide active support across teams.
Bonus Points
- Experience with game editor extension systems (e.g., Unity Editor scripting, Unreal Editor tooling, or custom C++/Qt editor frameworks).
- Familiarity with using observability tools (e.g., Sentry or Grafana).
- Experience with Cloud frameworks/technologies (GCP, Docker, k8s, etc.).
- Experience facilitating workshops or leading technical presentations internally.
- Experience with performance-critical software.
