About the role
Responsibilities
- Translating the creative direction set by the Director and Art Director into coherent, production-ready environments.
- Working closely with the CG Supervisor, Project Coordination and Department Leads to define the scope, priorities and production approach.
- Establishing workflows and quality standards for environment modelling, layout, set dressing, texturing and shading.
- Supervising the creation, assembly and integration of environments across shots and sequences.
- Shaping layouts and set dressing to support composition, scale, visual storytelling and camera requirements.
- Developing efficient procedural approaches to building, populating and iterating on complex environments.
- Leading reviews and providing artists with clear, actionable feedback.
- Planning and monitoring the team's work with Project Coordination to deliver agreed milestones on time and at the required quality.
- Identifying creative and technical risks early and recommending solutions appropriate to the project's scope, schedule and available resources.
Qualifications
- Significant experience as an Environment Lead or Supervisor in game cinematics, feature animation, high-end VFX or a comparable CG production environment.
- Strong artistic judgement and proven skills in environment layout, set dressing, composition, scale and environmental storytelling.
- Strong knowledge of Maya and modern environment-production workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Houdini, procedural environment workflows, USD-based pipelines and renderers such as Arnold, Karma or RenderMan.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine and real-time environment workflows.
