Role Overview

Hybrid Toronto, Canada or Remote.
Reporting to: Head of Design.

Tendril is a design, animation and digital innovation studio. The studio works with agencies and clients to create rich imaginative worlds for all visual mediums. The culture emphasizes hard work, striving for excellence, teamwork, community, and respecting balance.

Core Responsibilities

• Take a hands-on role in leading productions while remaining accessible for guidance, providing inspiration and insight to uphold Tendril’s high creative standards.
• Direct the daily workflow, clearly communicating creative vision to an international team of artists using tools like Slack, Frame.io, and Figma.
• Support the team by creating project assets when needed, utilizing personal expertise.
• Lead client-facing creative presentations alongside the project leadership team; deliver team ideas in a dynamic and engaging format.
• Act as a strategic partner for clients, listening to feedback and formulating creative responses to address requests.
• Lead the development of productions with the ability to create unique ideas mindful of budgetary restrictions.
• Support new business pitches with Creative Directors and Executive Producers; learn to pitch, present, and plan for high-stakes opportunities.
• Provide insights into resource allocation, discipline-specific processes, budgets, and timeline planning to support realistic, creative solutions during pitches and productions.
• Mentor and grow the creative team by providing inspiring and empowering feedback to build confidence and skills; facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise.
• Act as a thought leader for the creative team, leading workshops and skill-building sessions.
• Pursue boundary-pushing opportunities, striving to acquire new skills related to software, animation, and design.
• Infuse work with knowledge of current trends in areas including AI, typography, fashion, architecture, and contemporary art.

Candidate Qualifications

• Passionate about visual storytelling.
• History of leading projects that include a high level of polish and complexity.
• Conceptual thinker comfortable leveraging technical and aesthetic skills to craft creative treatments.
• Integral team member capable of building loyal client relationships by identifying needs and bringing ideas to life.

Required Discussion Topics

• Significant client success stories and the ability to develop loyal, long-lasting relationships.
• Expert communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• The lifecycle of complex animation productions from brief to delivery.
• Expert working knowledge of current industry-standard animation software including Maya, Houdini, and C4D.
• Involvement in the animation community.
