Role Overview

Scopely Explore is looking for a Director of Product to join its Leadership Team and help shape the future of one of the world’s leading location-based live service games. The Director of Product owns the product strategy that connects player value with business outcomes. Working closely with the General Manager and functional leaders, this role defines the long-term product direction, establishes success metrics, and develops the winning thesis that differentiates Pikmin Bloom in the market. From feature strategy and LiveOps to experimentation, game economy, and player insights, the Director of Product brings together Design, Engineering, Production, Marketing, and Analytics to make informed product decisions that delight players and drive sustainable business growth.

What You Will Do

  • Own the long-term product strategy, KPI framework, and success metrics for Pikmin Bloom.
  • Partner closely with the General Manager and Leadership Team to translate the game’s vision into a compelling product strategy and roadmap.
  • Develop and continuously refine a winning product thesis grounded in player insight, market understanding, competitive analysis, and long-term differentiation.
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, and LiveOps to deliver gameplay experiences that improve both player satisfaction and business performance.
  • Establish a high bar for product thinking by reviewing, improving, and occasionally creating Product Briefs, product strategies, and feature proposals.
  • Drive data-informed decision making through experimentation, market analysis, audience sizing, player research, and competitive insights.
  • Define strategies that strengthen engagement, retention, monetization, and long-term player value while maintaining the game’s creative vision.
  • Partner with LiveOps leadership to ensure every feature meaningfully contributes to seasonal planning, content strategy, and the long-term health of the game.
  • Build scalable product management practices, operating models, and decision-making frameworks that improve execution across the organization.
  • Foster a player-centric, outcome-oriented product culture built on curiosity, collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.
  • AI-Driven Product Leadership: Proactively leverage AI to accelerate player research, competitive analysis, experimentation, and product strategy development. Continuously explore emerging AI capabilities to strengthen the team’s winning thesis, improve product quality, and enable faster, better-informed product decisions.
  • Required in-office 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of product leadership experience in free-to-play mobile games.
  • Proven track record of operating and growing successful live service games after launch.
  • Demonstrated success defining product strategy and shipping features that deliver measurable KPI impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and evolve a winning product thesis that differentiates a game through deep player understanding, market insight, competitive analysis, and continuous experimentation.
  • Deep understanding of game economy, LiveOps, experimentation, product analytics, and player behavior.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across Product, Design, Engineering, Production, Marketing, and Analytics.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement AI-powered workflows, custom tools, and automation that measurably improve personal productivity, team effectiveness, and product development velocity while enabling higher-quality product decisions.
  • Ability to influence across disciplines, build alignment, and lead through collaboration rather than authority.
  • Passion for coaching and developing high-performing Product Managers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese.

Plus if…

  • Experience leading Product Management for a globally operated free-to-play mobile game.
  • Experience developing long-term product strategies for games with large, highly engaged player communities.
  • Experience with geolocation-based, AR, or outdoor gaming experiences.
  • Experience partnering with major entertainment or gaming IP holders.
  • Deep understanding of seasonal LiveOps, experimentation, and player lifecycle management.
  • Experience in adjacent disciplines such as Game Design, UX, Analytics, LiveOps, or Production.
  • Familiarity with Pikmin Bloom, Pokémon GO, Monster Hunter Now, or similar live service games.
  • Passion for building products that inspire people to explore the world together.
