Responsibilities
- Create realistic style character concept art for FPS games.
- Maintain extreme proficiency in art fundamentals, research skills, and design principles.
- Apply a sufficient understanding of the types and structures of firearms and utilize unique insights into the design of firearm skins.
- Demonstrate the ability to work loosely with line drawings and basic color renders to convey ideas rapidly and efficiently.
- Research and collect visual material to help define the visual style and contents of the game.
- Communicate abstract and sophisticated ideas in a concise way.
- Work closely with designers to consider gameplay implications and the overall player experience.
- Assist the 3D Lead and Level Artists to help define and visualize details within a level.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of working experience in character concept design.
- Track Record: Shipped at least 1–2 games as a concept artist.
- Aesthetic Skills: Proficient in creating concept designs with rich detail and photorealistic aesthetics through techniques such as photobash.
- Technical Skills:
- Good illustration and storytelling skills.
- Strong eye for perspective, color, lighting, mood, and composition.
- Good sense of form, shape, silhouette, scale, and surface materials.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with Design and Level-Art teams.
- Initiative and agility to adapt work to efficiently deliver requirements ranging from line sketches, paint-overs, basic color renders, to full renders.
- Strong use of research and reference material for idea generation and problem solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of 3D software packages and experience employing 3D techniques into a concept workflow.
- Good awareness of 3D art pipelines and technical constraints related to different game engines.
