About the role
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Lead the Team: Keep the comp team grounded, supported, and moving in the same direction. Help artists grow their skills and navigate tough shots without the high-stress drama.
- Guide the Work: Keep a close eye on 2D workflows across our episodic shows to make sure the work coming out of the department looks killer and stays consistent.
- Partner Up: Work directly with VFX Supervisors and Production to figure out shot approaches, bid timelines, and realistic delivery targets.
- Fix the Pipeline Friction: Spot bottlenecks before they turn into fires. Set up solid Nuke templates, standard practices, and smarter comp setups to make everyone's day easier.
- Get Hands-On: Jump on the box to comp complex or hero shots when needed, set up visual benchmarks, or help push critical deadlines over the line.
- Keep Quality High: Run reviews, give clear/constructive feedback, and sign off on shots so they look photorealistic and seamless.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of episodic comp experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisor spot.
- Software Expertise: Serious Nuke wizardry; deep knowledge of the software creatively and under the hood.

- Communication: Strong human skills; ability to provide inspiring, constructive, straightforward, and honest feedback.
- Tool Proficiency: Experience using ShotGrid / Flow (or similar tracking tools) to keep shots organized.
- Residency Requirements: Must live in British Columbia and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications

- 3D CG Awareness: Basic understanding of 3D passes, lighting, and general CG workflows.
- Tech Skills: Python scripting, building custom gizmos/tools, or working with Nuke particles.
- Teaching Spirit: Enjoy making quick guides or video walkthroughs to onboard artists or share cool tricks.
Working Conditions
- Location: Must be a resident of British Columbia, Canada. Preference given to those based in or near Vancouver.
