Job Description
The Community Developer is responsible for establishing and growing communities around Ubisoft’s games. This role involves leading global community strategy for specific brands, creating and executing global plans, and working with a distributed international team to build relationships and earn trust with players. The position provides guidance to cross-functional team members, facilitates collaborative planning, and is integrated with lead development studios.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute community strategic plans through various content tactics that support Production objectives and augment marketing strategy.
- Develop and grow existing communities in alignment with wider business objectives.
- Coordinate communication, activities, and initiatives with multiple global departments for consistent and cohesive messaging.
- Leverage Community Managers, transversal teams, and partner resources to create content such as blogs, podcasts, interviews, and infographics.
- Act as a spokesperson for assigned brand(s).
- Coordinate community-centric events, including studio visits, developer dialogues, and tournaments.
- Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to define and report on content KPIs to demonstrate success and ROI of community programs.
- Support internal and external milestones, such as betas and launches, to ensure KPIs are met and advocate for the player experience.
- Act as a primary representative for players’ needs within Production and Publishing teams to influence development and communications.
- Shape player feedback cycles and provide insights to Production and Publishing teams to influence game experiences and stimulate player retention.
- Coordinate with live teams for post-launch communication, including expectations for patch content, status, and delivery.
- Manage and produce internal reports on community feedback, activity, and expectations.
- International travel may be required.
Qualifications
Relevant Experience
- Intermediate experience managing online communities and developing strategic plans or programs with demonstrable success in a professional setting.
- Experience in the gaming industry across multiple platforms and genres is a strong plus.
- Experience working on unannounced or early-stage projects, with proven ability to operate with discretion and adapt strategy to evolving creative directions.
- Experience in co-development or third-party project environments, collaborating across studio boundaries to align community efforts with production realities.
- Experience in social media marketing or digital asset creation (video, photo, podcasts, etc.) is a strong plus.
- Having worked on a AAA live-service title is a strong plus.
Skills and Knowledge
- Genuine interest in or knowledge of GenAI and its applications in gaming; enthusiasm for engaging players around emerging and innovative game experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, nurture, and grow player advocates to build grassroots communities around new and unannounced concepts.
- Extensive knowledge of community and social media platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Discord, etc.).
- Strong understanding of building and maintaining video game community growth and developing strategic player engagement plans.
- Strong player advocacy mindset: ability to collect, synthesize, and champion player feedback with internal and external partners.
- Capacity to build long-term trust with players and studio partners, including on projects that cannot yet be disclosed.
- Experience working in a demanding production environment, managing multiple deadlines, success metrics, and cross-functional stakeholders.
