About the Role

The Cinematic Artist is responsible for the design and artistic execution of cutscenes and sequences in-engine. You will handle both their visual assembly and artistic presentation, as well as their game design: why a scene works the way it does, how it integrates into gameplay, and how it maintains the player’s focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conceptualize cutscenes: define purpose, structure, interaction logic, and integration into gameplay.
  • Direct and manage the full production cycle of cutscenes in Unreal Engine 5 — from previs to final polish.
  • Work with animations, VFX, audio, and in-game lighting to achieve the desired cinematic presentation.
  • Use cameras and composition to guide and maintain player attention.
  • Collaborate with Narrative, Design, and Art teams to ensure seamless storytelling and gameplay.
  • Optimize cutscenes and resolve visual artifacts.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Cinematic Designer or Cinematic Artist in the game industry.
  • Understanding of game design principles and interactive storytelling.
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5 and Unreal Sequencer.
  • Experience with Unreal Blueprints for triggers and event logic.
  • Understanding of technical constraints and scene optimization (LODs, polygon counts, shaders).
  • Knowledge of cinematography and directing fundamentals (composition, editing, pacing, lighting).
  • Experience with 3D software (Blender, Maya, 3ds Max) and video editing tools (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Experience with version control systems (Perforce, Git).

Nice to Have

  • Experience defining technical requirements and preparing tasks for programmers.
  • Experience participating in motion capture sessions and understanding the Mocap pipeline.
  • Experience with high-quality rendering using Movie Render Queue.
  • Experience with offline rendering tools (Path Tracing, Octane, Arnold, Redshift) and software such as Photoshop, Substance, After Effects.

Work Format

  • Office — Prague.
  • Office — Kyiv.
  • Remote.

Hiring Steps

  • Technical interview.
  • Test task (optional).
  • Cultural interview.
