About the Role
As part of the expansion of our studio, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Technical Artist to join our team and help bring our games to life in Unreal Engine 5. You will act as a key resource in technical art, art processes, lighting and production, to ensure a balance between creativity and technical constraints.
This is a remote freelancer position, with a possible lasting collaboration: we are looking for reliable and long-term partners to build a solid team that packs a punch!
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key resource in technical art, art processes, lighting, and production.
- Ensure a balance between creativity and technical constraints in game development.
- Collaborate with Art Leads and team members in technical and aesthetic problem-solving efforts.
- Receive and incorporate constructive group criticism to meet performance guidelines.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in game development on AAA titles as a Technical Artist or similar role.
- Strong knowledge in modern game engines required, with preference for in-depth knowledge in UE5 or UE4 development for PC and consoles.
- Knowledge of modern scripting languages such as Python and Blueprints.
- Proficiency in industry-standard graphics software (Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, Substance, Photoshop, etc.).
- Ability to identify artistic needs and choose appropriate technical solutions.
- Shader creation and material expertise.
- Focus on stylized aesthetics with strong artistic sensibility.
- Attention to polish and detail.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable receiving constructive criticism and making artistic adjustments to meet performance guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Houdini of any kind.
- Proficiency with procedural content tools such as Houdini, Blender, Substance Designer.
- Comfortable with written and spoken English.
- French speaking is a serious plus.
