Senior Technical Animator

Job Summary
We are looking for a passionate, skilled and reliable senior technical animator to join our team and bridge the gap between animation and technology. You will be responsible for solving technical animation issues and implementing the animations into the engine. This means designing, developing, and maintaining advanced animation systems as well as collaborating with animators, designers, and programmers to ensure seamless animation implementation.
Part of the process is troubleshooting both technical and artistic issues to ensure the best possible outcome. You will also work on improving our in-house tools and pipeline together with our tools programmers. This includes creating and maintaining technical documentation for animation tools and workflows. If necessary, you will also guide less experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve technical animation issues and implement animations into the engine.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced animation systems.
- Collaborate with animators, designers, and programmers to ensure seamless animation implementation.
- Troubleshoot technical and artistic animation problems.
- Improve in-house tools and pipeline alongside tools programmers.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for animation tools and workflows.
- Guide less experienced colleagues when necessary.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- 5+ years in the game industry as a technical animator.
- Experience working with animation blueprints, state machines, and physics-based animations in Unreal Engine.
- Ability to debug and optimize animation systems for performance.
- Good knowledge of MotionBuilder or Maya.
- High quality portfolio portraying required skills.
- Understanding of animation principles and their application to real-time applications.
- Team player with strong communication and task management skills.
- Passion for games.
- English language proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Rigging and skinning experience.
- Experience with motion capture data processing and retargeting.
- Experience with cloth and physics-based animation.
- Knowledge of procedural animation techniques and systems.
- Shipped AAA project experience.
