Job Summary
ATLANTIS ANIMATION is an animation studio based in the Canary Island of Tenerife, known for producing high quality animated series and feature films such as Tara Duncan and Miraculous Ladybug season 5, broadcast on Disney Channel and Disney+. We are preparing a new captivating project, the series Messi and the Giants, produced by Sony Music Vision, Sony Pictures Television Kids, and Leo Messi Management, and broadcast by Disney. This epic saga follows a young boy named Leo transported from Argentina into a fantastical alternate universe.
We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Sets and Props Technical Director (TD) to join our team for an upcoming 3D animated series. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between artistic and technical teams, ensuring sets and props are optimized, functional, and ready for use throughout the animation pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Sets and Props Preparation: Model sets and props with clean geometry, correct proportions, good topology, and properly laid-out UVs.
- Prepare assets for rigging, look development, and texturing.
- Follow naming conventions and studio asset standards.
- Create the set dressing.
- Pipeline Integration: Ensure assets work within the pipeline.
- Troubleshoot and validate sets and props files.
- Collaborate with the pipeline team if needed.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with supervisors and production teams (Modeling, Rigging, Animation, Texturing).
- Provide feedback and receive notes during reviews.
- Support cross-department needs.
- R&D & Tests: Build prototypes and technical tests for future projects.
- Help improve workflows with the R&D team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong experience in 3D animation production, particularly in environments and props.
- Solid understanding of modeling, UVs, shading, and scene assembly.
- Proficiency in Maya.
- Up-to-date knowledge of tools, techniques, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with asset management systems and studio pipeline integration.
- Problem-solving mindset with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Fluency in English.
- EU nationality or valid work permit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with render engines like Arnold, Redshift, or similar.
- Background in rigging or procedural asset generation.
- Experience working on animated series or feature films.
