Job Summary
The Yard VFX is a digital visual effects studio for cinema and episodic streaming platforms, based in Paris and Montpellier. Specializing in Creative Consulting, Supervision, 3D image creation, and integration, the studio collaborates with top national and international clients including MARVEL, DISNEY, NETFLIX, PATHE, and ARTE.
Currently in a growth phase, The Yard VFX is evolving and transforming. Large-scale international projects drive the need to strengthen teams. Immersed in this dynamic environment and surrounded by passionate individuals, the studio is looking for a VFX R&D Developer.
This role requires a passionate individual eager to push the limits of technology in computer graphics and visual effects. The candidate will stay up to date with the latest industry technologies and work closely with production teams. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the developer will contribute to the advancement of projects and collaborate regularly with colleagues at the forefront of innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct innovative research and development in computer graphics, ensuring seamless integration within the VFX pipeline.
- Act as a key resource for supervisors and production managers to troubleshoot pipeline and workflow issues.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with project teams, bringing forward innovative ideas and proposing solutions to technical challenges.
- Document research findings, methodologies, and technical processes in a clear and organized manner.
- Validate technical integration within the VFX production pipeline.
- Work under the direction and authority of the CTO, aligning with the company’s strategic direction.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- College degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in VFX post-production.
- Expertise in software management, pipelines, and/or technical team leadership.
- Production experience with tools such as Maya, Katana, Houdini, and Nuke, including knowledge of their associated APIs.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and explain complex technical concepts.
- Self-motivated, creative, and dedicated to staying ahead of industry trends and advancements.
Reports and Collaboration
This position reports directly to the CTO, providing regular updates on research progress and results. The R&D Developer will work closely with pipeline developers, sharing ideas and contributing to the enhancement of production pipelines.
