The Senior Mission Designer leads a team of mission designers to craft moment-to-moment stories for players. Working with a co-lead, they ensure workload distribution based on individual strengths. The Mission Design team is part of the World Creation team, which includes Level Design, Level Art, Mission Design, and Lighting teams, collaborating to build cohesive and fun worlds. The role works closely with Writing to create memorable, entertaining, and polished stories.
This position reports to the World Building Director and takes additional influence from the Creative Director. Responsibilities include day-to-day management and direction of mission designers, coordinating with production to keep missions on track, and ensuring cross-team collaboration. Candidates should have skills in group management, interactive storytelling, visual scripting, and interdisciplinary negotiation, with familiarity of Borderlands-style missions and Unreal Engine. Passion for gaming, storytelling, technical implementation, team building, communication, and leadership is essential.
Duties include technical and creative mission review, onboarding new hires, mentorship, participation in marketing and promotion, including demonstrations and travel. The Senior Mission Designer fosters a positive team environment and contributes to company culture focused on creativity, profit, and happiness.
This role is based in Frisco, TX, with some remote work options within the United States available upon discussion with recruiting.
