Important Looking Pirates (ILP) is a multiple VES and Emmy award-winning studio known for animation and visual effects on acclaimed projects such as Shogun, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Fallout, The Mandalorian, Westworld, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Founded in 2007 by artists, ILP is recognized as one of the top international VFX suppliers for quality, professionalism, and service.
We are seeking a Light Supervisor to join our team in Stockholm, Hamburg, or London. This is a full-time, permanent role where you will collaborate closely with the VFX Supervisor, production team, and other Skill Supervisors to plan and lead your team towards successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Production to define and adjust the overall schedule for your team, considering the VFX supervisor’s vision and crew capabilities.
- Understand, develop, and communicate the artistic vision and goals of the show.
- Promote ownership and responsibility within the team and provide opportunities for artists to grow.
- Review and screen dailies for both internal and client review.
- Streamline and unify templates and sequences.
- Support and mentor artists to foster their development.
- Assist in developing existing and new workflows by collaborating with cross-discipline stakeholders.
- Participate in recruitment, mentoring, training, and onboarding programs defined by the Talent Development Team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Extensive knowledge of Houdini and Nuke.
- Experience as a light lead, supervisor, or in a similar leadership role.
- Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong artistic instincts in photography, filmmaking, design, and storytelling.
- Passion and drive for visual effects (VFX).
- Excellent artistic eye with an understanding of world-class imagery standards.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Humble and helpful attitude.
- Structured approach to setups, templates, and workflows.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
