Asobo Studio is a creative and innovative game development studio with over 20 years of experience, responsible for 25 games on PC and consoles including famous licenses and original creations. Currently, the studio employs over 300 collaborators working on Microsoft Flight Simulator, the A Plague Tale franchise, and HoloForge (XR department).
The studio’s mission is to create exceptional and memorable interactive experiences for players, driving continuous improvement and passion in their work.
This role offers the opportunity to join an experienced and ambitious team that previously developed “A Plague Tale: Innocence” and “A Plague Tale: Requiem”. You will be encouraged to fully express your potential and develop your expertise within a close-knit team, taking responsibilities and working autonomously on a new 3rd person narrative adventure project from initial concept to final implementation.
Your Team
You will work within the Design department under the supervision of Kevin Choteau, Game Director, collaborating daily with all other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and create captivating levels from analyzing specifications to proposing feasible solutions.
- Design and balance specific gameplay features in collaboration with artists and programmers to ensure smooth and engaging gameplay.
- Innovate and test new ideas pushing the boundaries of Level Design.
- Prototype levels and maintain clear, accessible Level Design documentation for the entire team.
- Manage level testing closely with the QA team to ensure quality and project objectives compliance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 4 years of Level Design experience on one or more published video games.
- Proficient in all phases of level design (block out, prototypes, iterative passes) and able to translate design intentions into engaging gameplay.
- Experience with scripting tools and game engines.
- Highly creative with a strong video game culture, especially in narrative adventure genres.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail while maintaining production efficiency and meeting deadlines.
- Enjoy sharing ideas and learning from others.
- Operational proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a proprietary game engine.
