Job Summary

We are Media Molecule, a multi-award-winning game developer known for titles such as LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway, and the BAFTA Award winning Dreams. We are embarking on our next project and are looking for talented Senior Designers to join us on a long-term contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence and shape our new product while working in our newly refurbished studio in central Guildford.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help create, uphold, and maintain playable environments that encapsulate the work and resources of multiple teams.
  • Collaborate closely with art, systems, and narrative teams to ensure cohesive integration of game mechanics and storytelling within the world.
  • Use in-house and commercial tools to design and implement beautiful and fun environments for players to explore.
  • Design and implement innovative gameplay content utilizing game modes and systems to enhance player experience and drive engagement.
  • Create and balance game features to resonate with players and provide a rewarding experience.
  • Develop pipelines and processes for efficient and effective delivery of game environments.
  • Develop and iterate on game design documents ensuring adequate depth and clarity.
  • Playtest and provide feedback on game features to ensure quality and player satisfaction, refining where required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Significant previous experience in 3D level / open world game design with at least one shipped title.
  • Strong prototyping skills and experience polishing game mechanics.
  • Strong knowledge of both conceptual and practical aspects of game, level, and world design.
  • Solid understanding of what makes a gameplay experience compelling and fun.
  • Knowledge and experience in feature design.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Creative thinker with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Natural collaborator with excellent communication skills and openness to feedback.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a team environment.
  • Demonstrable experience with the iterative development process.
