Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Art, you will work within a multidisciplinary team on an unannounced project. You will be responsible for creating the project’s environments, adhering to the creative and artistic direction in harmony with gameplay and narrative. You will develop and integrate high-quality environments considering the game engine’s specificities.
- Work autonomously on Level Art setup and ensure the graphical composition of in-game environments
- Respect artistic direction while bringing originality and creativity
- Model environments and create textures aligned with the game’s artistic direction
- Understand complex game design documents to grasp environments, objectives, atmospheres, story, and style for level creation
- Master artistic software suited for task execution
- Demonstrate strong artistic skills
- Understand technical constraints related to platforms and engines
- Use project tools and data management efficiently
- Collaborate closely with Level Designers on game element placement
- Advise less experienced artists
- Ensure proper integration of created elements considering technical and gameplay constraints
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in 3D modeling, fine arts, or equivalent
- Expertise in designing and composing 3D environments within a game editor
- High artistic sense, especially in realistic 3D environment design and composition
- Excellent understanding of game development processes and interactions between artistic, design, and technical roles
- Good research skills
- Understanding of technical constraints related to platforms and engines
- Ability to model and texture complex optimized environments respecting technical constraints and artistic direction
- Propose innovative ideas and concepts consistent with artistic and creative direction to enrich the game’s graphic universe
- Collaborate with Level Designers to bring level design to life
- Exchange and share knowledge with other environment artists to enhance team expertise
- Strong foundational drawing skills
