Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in the heart of Parramatta CBD. Our YouTube channels, SMG4 and Glitch Productions, have over 13 million subscribers and more than 4 billion views. We are passionate about changing the way animation is produced on the internet, working with entities such as Screen Australia and Epic Games, and continue to grow year on year by delivering exciting content and stories to millions of fans.

We are looking for a highly capable and diligent 3D Layout Artist to help with the cinematography, choreography, and previs of our shows. You will collaborate with other layout artists on upcoming 3D animated shows like Murder Drones and The Amazing Digital Circus, under the supervision of the director/showrunner. Your role involves using Maya to pose, stage, and choreograph characters as well as position, compose, and animate cameras based on scripts and written directives.

Key Responsibilities

    <liPose, stage, and choreograph characters in 3D animation using Autodesk Maya.
  • Position, compose, and animate cameras according to scripts and directives.
  • Collaborate with other layout artists and the director/showrunner to achieve the desired cinematography and previs.
  • Contribute to the visual storytelling through effective composition, staging, and shot rhythm.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in Previs and/or Layout in animation.
  • Demonstrable skills in filmmaking and visual storytelling, including composition, staging, and shot rhythm.
  • Knowledge of cameras, lenses, editing, and film language.
  • Strong knowledge of Autodesk Maya.
  • Good understanding of character animation principles.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work and solve problems with minimal assistance.
  • Highly organized with the ability to adhere to production schedules.
  • Well-developed communication skills and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with action choreography.
  • Experience with physical cameras.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with Houdini.
  • Experience working in 2D animation pipelines.
