GFactory is a French art outsourcing studio founded in 2011 by experienced video game professionals. Our team specializes in 2D and 3D services and is fully made up of skilled freelance artists, working on world-class projects and passionately committed to crafting the highest quality assets. GFactory has contributed to renowned projects such as Wayfinder, Supervive, Borderlands 3, Overwatch, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Crash Bandicoot 4, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Palia, Apex Legends, Anno 1800, Wolfenstein 2, Hitman, and more.
About the Role
As part of the expansion of our studio, we are looking for mid to senior 3D Environment Artists with a deep passion for stylized artworks to support our core team on our current and incoming projects. You must feel comfortable and have experience working on stylized projects close to Wayfinder, Project Dragon, Darksiders, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm.
This is a remote freelancer position, with a possible lasting collaboration: we are looking for reliable and long-term partners to build a solid team that packs a punch!
Key Responsibilities
- Create stylized environments and props for game development projects.
- Collaborate with Environment Art Lead and team in technical and aesthetic problem-solving efforts.
- Embellish concepts with technical constraints in mind while maintaining overall aesthetic and quality standards.
- Work creatively as part of a large or small group.
- Follow schedule and deliver assets on time.
- Receive constructive group criticism and make artistic adjustments to meet performance guidelines.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in game development, building environments and props.
- Great ability to create stylized environments and props.
- Strong knowledge of relevant software packages such as Maya/Max, Photoshop, Substance Painter, and ZBrush.
- Strong 3D modelling skills (both organic and hard surface) and texturing skills.
- Strong knowledge of UV layouts for texturing and lightmaps.
- Strong knowledge of normal map making techniques for environment and props assets.
- Experience creating great textures and materials in a PBR environment.
- Good understanding of modular environments and runtime limitations.
- Passion and love for visual environment creation.
- Comfortable with receiving constructive criticism and making adjustments.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience implementing game environments and lighting in UE5.
- Familiarity with Blender.
- Good knowledge of Substance Designer.
- 2D concepting or technical art skills are a plus.
- Experience making vegetation assets.
- Comfortable with handpainted textures.
- Comfortable with written and spoken English.
- French speaking is a serious plus.
