Key Responsibilities

• Take briefs and direction from Lead Compositors and VFX Supervisors to execute assigned shots.
• Work with Visual Effects Supervisor and Compositing Lead to determine and apply creative and technical approaches through R&D, look development, and final delivery.
• Produce high quality photorealistic images and create seamless transitions between filmed footage and composited 2D and 3D elements.
• Deliver compositing tasks at all production stages including pre-comps, temp comps, lookdev, and final.
• Proficiently apply 2.5D approaches, projections, and use 3D environments within Nuke.
• Apply knowledge of colour space principles.
• Perform paint fixes, rotoscoping, chroma keying, colour and grading continuity, graining/degraining images as required.
• Stitch live-action plates together.
• Work with blue/green screen effects and create mattes.
• Enhance lighting effects and create convincing shadows within shots.
• Communicate creative and technical ideas clearly and succinctly.
• Maintain awareness of project status and deadlines.
• Collaborate efficiently with compositing team and other departments to meet project targets and creative expectations.
• Manage time effectively, provide accurate workload assessments, and escalate issues as needed.
• Liaise regularly with 2D lead and 3D artists to ensure smooth workflows and communication.
• Be proactive in identifying problems, finding solutions, and taking initiative.
• Accurately and efficiently action feedback.
• Ensure assigned shots meet Union QC standards and specific requirements.
• Apply good understanding of technical workflows including directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, and automation tools.
• Create clean and organised Nuke scripts.
• Stay updated with evolving 2D tools and techniques.
• Provide assistance during crunch times across multiple projects.
• Engage proactively with new technologies and tools.
• Mentor and support junior artists.
