The Yard VFX is an independent creative visual effects studio founded in 2014 and dedicated to feature films and episodics, based in Paris and Montpellier. Offering Creative Consulting, Supervision, 3D image creation and integration, the studio collaborates with top national and international clients including MARVEL, DISNEY, NETFLIX, PATHE, and ARTE.
In full growth and evolving, The Yard VFX is strengthening its teams to handle large-scale international projects. Immersed in a dynamic environment and surrounded by passionate individuals, they are looking for a Compositing Supervisor.
As Compositing Supervisor, you will be responsible for the show assigned to you. Your main mission is to ensure, together with the VFX Supervisor, that the creative direction of the project is respected. Reporting to the Head of Department (HoD) 2D, you will supervise shows from both artistic and technical perspectives, and collaborate with the producer to meet delivery deadlines while considering budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish methodologies and estimate the cost of new projects with the VFX Supervisor and production team, consulting with the HoD 2D as needed.
- Implement the production standards defined by the HoD 2D.
- Plan and maintain the rendering/compositing strategy with the CG Supervisor(s).
- Collaborate with the Paint & Roto Lead to break down all requirements for the show.
- Define production tasks for each shot with the production team.
- Manage artists throughout the project and ensure the quality of their work.
- Lead review sessions and ensure work meets client expectations.
- Brief artists individually on each shot when necessary.
- Ensure follow-up and compliance of production tasks with studio standards.
- Provide technical support to the compositing team on the project.
- Verify technical compliance of all data passing between departments (QC review/approval).
- Understand and represent the vision of the VFX Supervisor and client in their absence.
- Address the creative direction by providing technical and/or artistic solutions aligned with team skills and project budget.
- Report technical, strategic, and organizational problems or solutions to the HoD 2D.
- Support artists in skills development and professional monitoring throughout the project, in collaboration with the HoD 2D.
- Participate in mid and post-mortems of the project.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as a compositing supervisor on international projects.
- At least 10 years of experience as a Compositing Artist, Lead Compositing, or Compositing Supervisor.
- Strong sense of initiative and creativity.
- Comprehensive understanding of all technical and creative aspects of VFX production and processes.
- Proficiency with compositing software environments.
- Familiarity with production tracking tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively in French and English, both verbally and in writing.

Work Arrangement
On site at the studio in Paris or Montpellier – possibility of working in hybrid mode according to the internal teleworking charter.
