Job Summary
Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Narrative Director for the Diablo franchise to join our team in Irvine, CA or Albany, NY. This role will lead the narrative vision and execution for the Diablo universe, working closely with game directors, designers, artists, and writers to craft compelling stories, characters, and worlds that captivate players.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the narrative vision and strategy for Diablo projects, ensuring a cohesive and immersive story experience.
- Collaborate with game directors and cross-disciplinary teams to integrate narrative elements seamlessly into gameplay and design.
- Oversee the development of story arcs, character development, dialogue, and world-building.
- Manage and mentor narrative team members and external narrative partners.
- Maintain consistency of the Diablo universe lore and tone across all narrative content.
- Drive innovation in storytelling techniques and narrative design within the game.
- Work with marketing and community teams to align narrative messaging and content.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience leading narrative development on AAA games or major entertainment projects.
- Strong storytelling skills with a deep understanding of character, plot, and world-building.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to inspire and guide creative teams.
- Passion for the Diablo franchise and knowledge of its lore and fanbase.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing external narrative partners and contractors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in game design or related disciplines.
- Experience with narrative tools and software used in game development.
- Familiarity with Blizzard’s development processes and culture.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing, Literature, Game Design, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in narrative roles within the gaming or entertainment industry.
