Job Summary

The Flame Compositor will perform complex digital image composition tasks, seamlessly integrating all elements of a visual effects shot to produce photorealistic images that meet Rodeo FX’s high-quality standards. The role requires working closely with the Compositing Supervisor and Lead to find creative and technical solutions while meeting project specifications and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Composite simple to complex shots at various stages of production including pre-comps, lineups, 2D tracking, 2D effects, keying extractions, integration, and color correction.
- Resolve visual, artistic, and technical issues or communicate them to the appropriate departments (modelling, texture, 3D lighting, etc.).
- Ensure consistency of the final composition of visual effects shot elements.
- Harmonize creative and technical aspects of each shot.
- Integrate 2D and 3D elements to produce photorealistic images meeting Rodeo FX’s quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Compositing Supervisor and Lead to enhance shots creatively and technically.
- Participate in the development of tools and techniques for the compositing department.
- Perform quality control on shots before submission for review/approval, ensuring all technical and creative standards are met and promptly apply notes received.
- Keep Production and project teams informed of work status, issues, and recommend solutions.
- Ensure deadlines are met and advise project teams promptly if delays are expected.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Compositing Artist within the VFX industry.
- Minimum 10 years experience with Nuke software and Flame software.
- Knowledge of Mocha or Tracking-3D is an asset.
- Understanding of photographic principles including color theory, lighting, shadows, reflection, refraction, perspective, and composition.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and act as a positive role model.
- Excellent prioritization skills and adherence to deadlines.
- Continuous learner, staying updated with the latest industry techniques and technological advancements.
