About the Role
As part of the expansion of our studio, we are looking for mid to senior 3D Hair Artists to join our team on our current and incoming videogame projects. You will focus on creating realistic hair and fur for characters and creatures, with the very highest visual quality and performance standards.
This is a remote freelancer position, with a possible lasting collaboration: we are looking for reliable and long-term partners to build a solid team that packs a punch!
Key Responsibilities
- Create realistic hair and fur for characters and creatures with high visual quality and performance standards.
- Follow schedule and deliver assets on time.
- Receive constructive group criticism and make artistic adjustments to meet performance guidelines.
- Implement 3D hair work into Unreal Engine 4 / 5.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in game development, working on AAA titles.
- A comprehensive modelling and texturing portfolio showing 3D character art to a very high standard, with a specific ability in the representation of Hair & Fur creation.
- Proven ability to create relevant form, structure, cut and silhouette for character hairstyles using card based and runtime approaches.
- Exceptional understanding of next-gen workflows for hair & fur.
- Working experience using 3DSMax, Maya or Blender for Hair Card Creation.
- Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 / 5 and implementing 3D work into engine.
- Has a detail-obsessed eye for creating digital grooms to specified concept and reference.
- Comfortable receiving constructive group criticism and making artistic adjustments to meet performance guidelines.
- Follow schedule and deliver assets on time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience using Houdini, Fibershop or XGen Grooming Tools.
- Experience working on AAA titles as a character artist.
- Comfortable with written and spoken English.
- French speaking is a serious plus.
